Pink and perky

SOLD

See I promised you more jewellery ;0) Laura Sparlings beautiful beads with Karen Hill Tribe Silver. This bracelet is more a bangle as its threaded on Sterling Silver wire but its sits beautifully on the wrist - truly a timeless classic!

Elli is off for another party- she has a way better social life than me! Bouncy castle by the looks of things when I dropped her off!

I''m halfway through Harry Potter now and thoroughly enjoying this book- the last book I read of JKRowlings was in hospital - its two years ago since the last book was out and nearly two years ago since I spent the summer in and out of hospital - it seems in some ways like a few months ago yet at the same time like forever ago! FUnny though although Elli was only 4 at the time she remembers it well and often talks abut drs removing something from your tummy! (For those of you not in the know I had an absess growing on my ovary - after a HSG (we were trying for another baby) it pushed the poison around my body - the absess was thought to be a endometrium cyst not an absess so I was left in severe pain and feeling like death warmed up - it was only found when the dr after 3 weeks of (3 different kinds) antibiotics checked me over and found a hot spot!! )

Right I'm off to sort out earrings to match this little beauty and photograph my latest bracelet..

A huge GET WELL SOON to my friend Caroline who has got Chicken pox!

Saturday

Yawn!

No piccies today - sorry but I am working on some pieces so maybe tomorrow if you are lucky!

We slept in our new caravan last night - well slept isn't really the right word for me - I lay in the caravan last night. Charlie the cat )pic of which is shown on another post) decided it was party time - normally he is shut in the lounge where his cat flap goes into the garage then out into the back garden so he can roam free but of course Elli wanted him in with us. :(

To begin with he sort of settled on me - but Charlie isn't like any normal cat - Charlie has to be cuddled but of course then he "nests" you know that thing they do with their claws - in, out, in ,out!!! Arghhhh I kept moving him and he crawls back up to my neck!! Eventually I put him out and he disappeared for a while - I may have slept ! Then he meowed to come back in - I thought (silly!) that he may be ready to sleep but oh no! a moth followed him into the van so he was bouncing around trying to catch it! SO again I popped him back outside so he decided to jump onto the caravan roof and it sounded like he was bouncing up and down on it - the a paw was being poked through the vent in the roof with miaow's here and there - this woke Elli up!

Opening the door he's trying to get in from the roof - until he was hanging from the door I managed to get him in on Elli's bunk and tried to settle him back down - but oh no up down up down - finally at 7.30 this morning Charlie decided it was sleep time!

Yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn I could sleep for a week!!

Friday

As Simple As

Sometimes I need to make something and before I know it something else has been created! Today was one of those days, I was making a bracelet when I came up my stairs to my sanctuary (to me its my sanctuary - to my family, its a messy room filled with beads, tools, and wire lol!) but when I got in here I made up a pair of earrings (see below) and somehow started on this necklace!

I love Black Onyx and Crystal Quart together - its just a very simple, yet classy, combination. Today I sold another classic necklace from my website and I suppose without thinking I decided to replace it -as it to was black as well. (Kelly hope you enjoy wearing her!)

After my mammoth torching session on Wednesday my torch appears to be broken :( Luckily my lovely dh bought me another so guess what I'll be doing later ;0)

Beneath the Sea

I think I've fallen in love with this bracelet - I only finished her last night, a burnt finger and thumb later! The colours on Isabelles lampwork beads are magical - like a rainbow as you move your arm. The twirly bits (Or ding dongs as my friend Deedee calls them!) are made from fine silver and that was how I burnt myself - should have gathered it was hot lol!

TOday we've been to Dairyland (a fun park including farm animals and tractors!) Elli had a friends party and its too far to go and drop her there - so two coffees later and it was still raining - luckily there is an indoor soft play area where we all went - it was so busy and I felt really sorry for all the holiday makers trying hard to find something in the dry because of the horrendous weather we've been having :(

Russian Royalty

SOLD

I bet your wondering why I named this post "Russian Royalty" apart from the name of my latest piece!!! Well I think my muse has been at work again - I made this necklace last night - on eof those times when you are in the middle of changing a piece to fit a client and something all together different is born (If you are a reading this JO - your dizzy jewellery designer has finished it!!! ) Princess Tatiana is a compliation of Isabelle Anderson's beautiful lampwork and coral with amethyst and Karen Hill Tribe Silver.

Elegantly cool, I still don't know where the name came from - I read up on Princess Tatiana and am none the wiser so if anyone knows why my muse wanted this name can you let me know :0P

Anastasia of course a Russian Princess most people have heard of - the story of Anna Anderson intrigues me so much - read about it HERE.

Hearing Voices

Now before everyone tell me to take my meds its my own voice I can hear - I was wondering whether anyone else writes their blogs in their heads as they are performing everyday tasks - like cleaning the toilet???? YOu should hear me sometimes I don't half go on - yet I can applaud myself for great wording etc but then sadly (or not!) I forget my great writings before I even have thought about typing/writing them out so sadly you are all missing out on my words of wisdom!! (which I'm sure they aren't really before anyone becomes sad and depressed at my lack of organisation in writing everything down as I'm thinking) . Funny thing is I never forget a flash of inspiration when it comes to my jewellery - I had this conversation yesterday about keeping a book by the side of my bed when those flashes come - but so far (touch wood) I haven't needed one - all my designs seem to stick in a little drawer in my head like a huge filing cabinet! ;0)

Pentreath my latest pebble piece is named after Pentreath beach nr Penzance (Of course I have to name them after Cornish beaches!!) Isabelles Sectacular beads complimented by silver (Lots of!!) I feel like a framer when I recieve beautiful lampwork beads - I have to show them off to their very best and it can be nerve racking at times. Hopefully I did these beautiful pebbles justice.

Friday

Last day of school

Elli has finished school for the summer yay!! I love having her home but you can imagine I won't get much jewellery made - but I'll try ;0)

Today I made Java - another one my muse sent me in a dream - Caroline Hannon's bracelet beads with bali silver and tiny silver seed beads - doesn't she look great!

The sun is shining here today so enough chatting and off to sit in the sun for a while - before the rain comes again!!

Thursday

Thursdays child

SOLD
My Elli was a water baby - from the moment I first started swimming with her she showed no fear, she was even swimming under water by 14 months. Sadly at 20 months I fell over in the water dunking not only myself but Elli too - one of those slow motion times when you feel you were under water forever. Straight after she caught chicken pox quite badly and so we missed going to the pool for 8 weeks - after that she had totally lost all confidence in the water and the pool became a place of turmoil not fun.

I booked her in for swimming lessons which were a bit hit and miss - she would only do certain things and I believed she'd be learning until she was 18 (well she herself said she didn't want to swim until she was 18!!!) By mistake she was moved up a class - the teacher M is young and Elli from the start built a strong relationship with her - the trust grew and 3 terms later she is swimming - not like a fish but hey I don't expect major miracles!!

This bracelet Aqua was made as a huge thank you to M for all her time and energy she put into helping Elli overcome her fears. M starts university in September and Elli and myself will miss her - hopefully everytime she wears Aqua she will think of Elli !!

Beads by Caroline Hannon with turquoise and silver.

Thank you

Tuesday

Catching up!

I've been trying to catch up with commission today - as well as the ironing and watching Greys Anatomy lol!

Elli is on her last week of school and I also need to make some earrings for the teachers eeek - I also have a raffle prize all for the end of the week - so really I need to be doing that!!

So I'm not stopping on here long today so apologise for that but will hopefully have more news tomorrow!

Monday

I've been tagged

Thanks Kara I think!

OK I have to post 8 things about me you didn't know eeeekkkkkkkkk

1. I bite my nails - I know I know disgusting habit :( I try and try to stop and did for 2 years but I lost a baby and turned into a nervous wreck and started again - one day lol

2. I nearly married a man I didn't love because I didn't want to hurt him - yet sobbed my heart out when he told me he didn't know if he loved me either because I knew he's be hurting!

3. I cry at films whether they are happy or sad - E reckons if I cry I loved the film, and would rate it 10/10!

4. I am addicted to books - I buy at least a book a week and have joined Readitswapit so I can have more!! Sadly I wish I could say they are intellectual books but I love modern fiction affectionately known as chicklit!

5. I'm the most untidy person - my husband despairs!! I'm clean and if the room is tidy I can keep it that way but once someone (usually my dd) messes it up I loose interest!

6. I like ironing - yep a good programme and I'm quite happy to watch and iron at the same time!

7. MY husband is 3 years younger than me and proposed 7 months after meeting!

8. I can't have anymore children. I'm infertile after a medical mistake - but I lived and am happy with my life.

Now I have to find 8 more people to tag!

More jewellery tomorrow :)

Wednesday

One more day!!

SOLD

I'm so excited this time tomorrow I will be on a train to London woohoo!!!! I can't wait - shopping heaven and at least this time I have money to spend - mind you when I last did this 2 years ago I had no money but spent it anyway!!

SOLD

YOU may wonder why I am posting loads of pics of earrings well I have two reasons really, one is I had a visit from J&R today - I was R's nanny for over 7 years and she has a love of jewellery so guess who left with a bag full!!! Including her Mum I should add - love them!! And second my dear friend Caroline (you know the one , talented lampworker extroadinare!) wants a pair of earrings - so why she can't make a pair for herself lol - in fact it probably would have been easier to send her the componants ;0) Only joking sweetie!!!

SOLD
Wonder what she'll pick ?????

Tuesday

Summer Rain

Now I bet you can't guess why I named this one Summer rain?? Lol I'm trying to be subtle here!!! If you look closely you will see rose quartz, peridot and grey moonstone nestling amongst the crystal quartz - oh and silver nobbles tooo!!

SOLD

I adore this bracelet and am tempted to keep her so you will have to wait and see if she appears on the website - she won't be going on there until August unless either I or someone else decides to snap her up ;0) Here's another pic just to let you see some more :-

and finally I made some earrings ( Caroline if you are reading this I am waiting for earwires for yours!!) These are named Zebirget as Peridot has been found in Egyptian Jewellery from the early second millennium BC and was mined from the Volcanic island of Zebirget or St. Johns Island, in the Red Sea. So a great name I thought :D

Right I'm off to pretty myself up ready for the hairdressers - can't go to the big Smoke with yukky hair now can I ???

Monday

Sad

SOLD

I wasn't going to post today - I had some terribly sad news and its sort of zapped my mojo :(

BUt I promise I will be back tomorrow fighting :D

I'm on countdown, as on Thursday evening I am off to the big smoke for a shopping expedition with the girls!! OH boy do I need it now!

SO I will be MIA from Friday until Monday - should anyone miss me ;0)

The earrings above were for a lady who was celebrating her birthday on Saturday - so if you are reading this Happy Birthday M :)

Saturday

Sunny Saturday

Today I start with a picture of my beautiful boy Charlie - he's gorgeous - Thursday night we shut him in the caravan - by accident I hasten to add! We didn't notice until the following afternoon and my E told me I had to go and investigate the mess we were sure to find - poor boy - but there was nothing - he must have had his legs crossed!!

I also took apart a necklace on my website - I made it about 8 months ago and decided it needed pulling apart and redoing - last night and this morning I did just that and am pretty pleased with the results

Our garden is now finished - the turf was laid and as promised I have a photo for you !

Now I'm going to tidy up my guestbook where I'm being spammed by some horrendous things :( SO if anyone fancies going and putting a nice post I'd be eternally grateful I hate sifting through filth and finding a post to make me smile would make my day!

Friday

Sun!

There's something shining in the sky, is it a bird, is it a plane nooooooooooooooooo its the sun !!!!! Its been so long we weren't sure what it was but I needed my sunglasses - maybe I was turning into a mole! It sure seems bright :D After I have finished my post of the day I'm going to sit on my swing seat which I've only ever spent about 5 mins on since we got it (4 weeks ago!!)

My daughter who is nearly six ( next month) is home from school today - an inset day I think they are now called so we are having a very lazy day at home - I've played a little with my beads this morning but it sort of proves its going to be difficult during the summer holidays when she is home all the time so I will apologise now for being slack - but then you never know I may be ultra good and keep you all up to date!!!!

SOLD

Remember if you see anything on my blog you like but can't find it on my website then send me an email jo@gemheaven.co.uk and I can send you all the information - I'm going to be holding pieces back - depending on whats selling and what not but of course you all get to see what I am creating day by day!!

Now go and enjoy the sun :)

Thursday

Creativity

SOLD

Creativity for me is when an idea flashes into my head and I have to go do something about it! It doesn't choose its times wisely, in the supermarket, just as I'm drifting of into a beautiful sleep or even when I'm in the middle of something and its JUST not a conveniant time ;0)

Where does the creativity come from? - who knows - I was told I had a muse - a lady from the other side - who inspires me but who adores Egyptian jewellery - funny though because I never use gold but the blue bit is right - I adore blue - in fact I have a blue set of lampwork waiting for me!!! ( and another set on the way .... oh and another set reserved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

SOLD

Where does your creativity come from??

Sunday

Wet Sunday

SOLD
Makes a change me talking about the weather and I know you will miss it if I don't talk about the rain!! ;0)

Last night we watched the fabulous fireworks after the end of Feast Saturday in Mevagissey but the weather was such a let down - we popped down from my Grans house to get some chips ( typical feast tea lol)and the carnival was still going on - those poor brave children walking in the, not only wet but, torrential rain - I have to admit I was close to tears when I saw them coming round the corner - amazing how everyone pulls together!!

The bracelet above is a commission to match the necklace - Moon Daisy

SOLD

This one is called Peacocks Ore and is labrodite and silver - again another commission - isn't it beautiful - I loved it so much I made myself one!!

Today we took my Mum and Nan to Truro for lunch (My dad was playing golf) and my lovely hubby bought me some gorgeous shoes - amazing thing was I tried them on in the shop and told him how much I loved them - then I put them back as I can't afford to spend money at the moment I'm saving to go to London but he popped back to buy them for me - a huge surprise - love him :D
